9-3-2025: Staff says that only true copper pennies should be used and that the machine will not flatten the new zinc pennies with the shield on the back. I didn t test this as I didn t want to cause problems, but they had a few copper pennies available in a cup on the machine and told me to use them and not the newer pennies I had.
