Description:
Fort Fetterman State Historic Site was established as a military post on July 19, 1867. This fort was a major supply point for the army operations against the Indians. Ft. Fetterman is located on the Bozeman Trail.
Ft. Fetterman is located about 8 miles northwest of Douglas, WY and is situated on a plateau above the valleys of LaPrele Creek and the North Platte River.
Ft. Fetterman is open to the public during the summer from Memorial Day thru Labor Day. However, this Penny Press Machine will be moved to the WY Pioneer Memorial Museum at 400 W. Center St, Douglas, WY from September to May.
